James A. Houck, of Wadsworth, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, December 24th at his home. "Dads," or "Pops" as his children called him, lived his life fully and especially over the past eight months, visiting his children in Colorado, Virginia and Chicago and taking an exceptional trip to Montana.

He was born September 2, 1938 in Barberton, OH and was educated at St. Augustine's, St. Vincent's Prep School in Latrobe, PA, St. Mary's High School in Akron and Akron University. He began his career as a draftsman at Babcock & Wilcox and later worked at Westinghouse, TLT-Babcock and Generaction utilizing his expertise as an air-moving (fan) engineer. He was proud of his salesmanship and used that skill throughout his career and especially as a small business owner of Liftit, Inc.

He raised his family in Wadsworth, OH and was an active member of Sacred Heart and Prince of Peace parishes. He sang in the choir, enjoyed fishing and truly loved to travel out West. He especially enjoyed his nearly 20 visits to the Boundary Waters of Minnesota to catch small mouth bass. He was blessed with the fellowship of his Tuesday meeting friends and his 40+ year friendships

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Nancy (nee, Costello); his children, Barbara (Col. (Select)Scott Creed, USMC), Beth (Mark Westman), James "Jim" (Kara), Amy (Chris Ireland); grandchildren, Caroline, Bart, Nicholas, Charlotte, John, Cole, Zoe, Finn, Fisher and Madeline. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna and Arthur and sister, Jean (Carey).

The family will receive friends 4 to 7pm Wednesday at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 North Lyman Street, Wadsworth and from 10 -11am Thursday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1263 Shannon Avenue, Barberton where Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM with Fr. Robert Jackson, Celebrant.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may made in his name to the Interval Brotherhood Home, Attn: Ed Stanford, 3445 S. Main St., Akron, OH 44319 or Prince of Peace Maintenance Fund, 1263 Shannon Avenue, Barberton, OH 44203.
