Joette Jeanne Davis passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 3rd after a brief illness. She entered this world the 2nd of four children on May 6th, 1940 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She graduated from McDonald High School in 1958.
After four years of dating, Joette and John were married July 9th, 1960 and enjoyed almost fifty years of marriage.
During the majority of her marriage she was a homemaker, raising her family of active children. She loved children and found great enjoyment as a Girl Scout Troop leader, teacher's aide at a Pre-School in Loyal Oak, and with Latch Key children in Wadsworth. She was active with Footlighter's in Wadsworth and ShowBiz in Medina, and was part of the Wadsworth 175 year celebration.
She also volunteered for many years singing and dancing weekly at Magnolia Nursing Home in Wadsworth. She had a great knowledge of the old songs of the 30's, 40's, and 50's, and was able to bring cheer to the residents.
She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Alice Russell, and a younger brother Joseph Jr.
She is survived by her devoted husband John T., her four children; Jeffrey (Peggy), Jill Sullivan (John), Jerry, and Jeni. Her grandchildren; Josh and Mike Davis, Marli, Sean, and Ryan Sullivan, her sister Mary Alyce Shannon, brother Howard D.S. Russell, sisters-in-law Janet Russell and Elaine Hoag, and many nieces and nephews all of whom she dearly loved and treasured. She had a generous heart, always hugging anyone she met, living life to the fullest with a song in her heart, a smile on her face, and always had a hat on her head. She will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends 2-4 & 6-8 PM Monday at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St. Wadsworth. Where funeral services will be conducted 10:00 AM Tuesday with Deacon Rich Michney officiating. Interment Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
