William D. "Papa" "Bill" Gearhart Sr., 67, of Wadsworth passed away Thursday, January 13, 2011. He was born on April 22, 1943 in Akron to the late John and Elizabeth Gearhart. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Barberton and was retired from Sterling Paper Co.
He was preceded in death by two brothers Jimmy and John Gearhart and one sister Joan Jackson. Bill is survived by his wife Mary Lou with whom he celebrated 47 years of marriage, his son and daughter-in-law William "Bill" Jr. and Cheryl Gearhart of Wadsworth and was affectionately known as "Papa" to his grandchildren; Samantha, Jessica, Billy, and Jimmy.
A funeral mass will be celebrated 10:30 AM, Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Barberton. Inurnment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. There will be an open house celebrating Bill's life beginning at 2:30 Tuesday at the home of Bill Jr. and Cheryl Gearhart.
