Harold W. Kepler, 92, passed away peacefully in his home from congestive heart failure. He leaves his loving wife, Mary, and his step daughters Carol Spoon (Carl) of Barberton, Ohio; Linda BonTempo (Frank) of Sagamore Hills, Ohio; Susan Billings (Bob) of Cleveland, Georgia; He is also survived by grandchildren Brian Kenner, Jennifer Craig (Chuck), Matthew Kenner (Cari), Harley Hoff (Heidi), Rebecca Hoff (Chick), Leslie Glaser (Chris), Cheri Rice, Pamela Rice-Anderson, Nicole Coley, and Jason Billings. Also great grandchildren Julianne, Dennis Jr., Katy, Megan, Brandon, Nicholas, Dustin, Jessie, Harley , Dominic, Mackenzie, Samantha, Richard, Jake, Tyler, Markus, Jordan, Hannah, Madelyn, Dakota, Brittany, John, and Christopher. Also surviving are his sister Dorothy Chiles of Atwater, Ohio; his sister-in-law Mky (Mary)Kepler of Alliance, Ohio; many loving neices, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by brothers Glenn and Art Kepler. Harold was born in Akron and raised in Atwater. He started working at a young age for Cavanaugh Landscaping. He was married to Beatrice Kepler for 23 years. He joined the Army during WWII and became a staff sergeant. He served with the Infantry Division, HQ Co-9th Infantry Regiment in Europe. He received five Bronze Stars, a WWII Victory Ribbon, and a Bronze Star Medal. He entered the Ohio Buckeye Engineers Corp Local 18 until he retired in 1983. He and Mary were married in Georgia in 1983. Harold belonged to Wadsworth UME, the Wadsworth V.F.W. 1089, and the Wadsworth Moose. He also belonged to Barberton Slovene Pensioners and Firestone VFW post. Harold liked golfing, Polka dancing with Mary, hiking in the woods, Family get-togethers, playing cards, and chatting with the neighbors. Thanks to Dr. Bianco for his good care, the Vitas Hospice, Wadsworth Rittman Hospital, Wadsworth Pointe, Rev. Jerry Penrod, Family Members, Chaplin Wayne Schmelzer, Visiting Nurses and Home Instead. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:30 AM Thursday at the Hilliard Rospert Funeral Home 174 North Lyman St. Wadsworth with Rev. Jerry Penrod officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services from 10:30-11:30. Interment with be at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, in Harold memory, donations may be made to Wadsworth UME Church, American Red Cross of Medina County, or Hospice.
