Obituary

orton, Lavina

Orton, Lavina

Lavina Lynn Sanford Orton entered into eternal rest today Sept. 11, 2010. She was born February 8, 1922 in Akron, OH. She was the only child of the late Andrew Henry and Ada (Englehardt) Sanford.
Her loving family and traveling brought Lavina her greatest pleasures. She worked at various jobs over her lifetime to help the family. Her most memorable job was when she lived in California and worked at Deutsch Electronics on the power panels used for the first American manned moon ship.
She loved the years she lived in the heart of Amish Country in Maysville, OH, and the many friends she made there that continued to communicate with her over the years.
Lavina was preceded in death by her husband John Eugene Orton, son Larry Paul Steward, grandson Geoffry Gene Kufchak, great grandson Joey Kufchak, and daughters-in-law Elaine Selzer and Sally Steward.
She is survived by son Stephen Andrew Selzer (Karen) of Maysville, OH, daughter Susan Lynn Kufchak (Geoffry) of Lancaster, SC, and stepsons; Rick Orton of Valley City, OH, William Orton of Lake Tahoe, CA, and Dennis Selzer of Hinckley, OH. Also surviving are 12 beloved grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren, beloved cousins Madeline Rohrer of TX, Hazel Skafic of Wadsworth, OH , and Grace Muich of Medina, OH.
Lavina requested no flowers, but donations can be made in her honor to the charities that were closest to her heart: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, The Salvation Army National Headquarters, 615 Slaters Lane, PO Box 269, Alexandria, VA 22313, or to the American Red Cross National Headquarters, 2025 E Street, NW, Washington, DC 20006.
The family would like to extend sincere thanks to all of the staff and friends from Liberty One in Wadsworth.
Special thanks to Dr. Bay and all the Wayne County Care Center staff in Wooster, OH for their loving, excellent care and friendships. Thanks to all her loved ones and friends that took time to visit, call, or write during her period of declining health.
Special thanks to Rev. Jacqueline McMillen for all her blessings, prayers, visits, and for the final celebration of Lavina's life service. Heart felt thanks to Hospice of Wayne County for their loving care and compassion.
Lavina never met a stranger. May God rest her blessed soul.
